Project Description
In conjunction with private landowners and developers, and the city, I am working on this project to transform one of South Florida’s most iconic streets, Ocean Drive. Currently, we are in the conceptual phase, and these are some of the first drawings we are using to show the multiple ideas – Pedestrianizing the street, adding an interesting pattern of painting or paving to the street surface, improving the adjacent parks with public art, creating exercise stations, adding landscape islands, increasing outdoor seating for restaurants and bars, and adding folly structures to mark each intersecting street. Most controversial, is the idea to improve,upgrade, and add height to some of the actual buildings that are in the worst shape and do not currently represent the architecture of the historic district.
